Back in the driver's seat!

  Steeler Nation its been awhile after a long hiatus I'm back and ready to roll...The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 10 -3 and with three games left they are back in the driver's seat for the AFC North division title not to mention possible command of the AFC as the #1 Seed and home field advantage through out the AFC playoffs. All thanks to the Chargers whipping the ravens 34-14

Steeler Nation , you may have noticed that I have not posted in a while. I have been in grieving over the sudden loss of the most caring ,loving ,and beautiful person I have met or ever will meet. She inspired me daily .  She always believed in me and was always the first to read my posts. She was a true Steeler fan and will be missed by  many.

Donna Jean, you can now read  my writings from a better place and know that anyone that had the pleasure of having you in their life is a better person for it. You will continue to inspire me and will always be a part of me. I know you will continue to watch over all of us. Until we meet again . I know that you are watching from heaven rooting for our Steelers. Thank you Donna Jean.

Thoughts & The Good,Bad & Ugly of the Steelers Vs Colts week 3

Steeler Nation, The Steelers underwhelmed this week in Indianapolis but won none the less 23-20. The Steelers have to play at a higher level than this in all areas.

Roethlisberger went 25-37 for 364yards passing  and a touchdown and an interception. Roethlisberger had a quarterback rating of  97.1. Roethlisberger also had two costly fumbles. Ben Roethlisberger has to protect the ball better especially with the state his offensive line is in . The fumbles were not all Ben's fault. The Steelers as a whole have to limit turnovers.

Steeler Nation it's  now week three of the 2011 season and the Steelers next game is at Indianapolis taking on the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts will be with out their  leader, quarterback Peyton Manning who is out with a neck injury.

Steeler Nation what a difference a week makes ! Of course the quality of the opponent was not exactly

the greatest but the Steelers played Steeler football and did what they were supposed to do,shutting out the Seattle Seahawks 24 - 0. The Steeler's defense is now determined to show the doubters that this group still has plenty left and is still one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Steeler Nation , it's time to move on to week 2 and not a minute too soon. The Steelers will play the Seattle Seahawks in the Steeler's home opener at Heinz Field.

Thoughts & The Good,Bad & Ugly of the Steelers week 1

Steeler Nation wow that was a terrible game.  The Steelers came out in the first game of the season and fell flat on their faces, turning the ball over 7 times on offense and losing to the ravens 35-7. Ben Roethlisberger had 3 interceptions and fumbled the ball twice. Roethlisberger did have 1 touchdown pass to receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

Steeler Nation the season is about to start, and what better way to start it than by kicking the Baltimore ravens tails. Ben Roethlisberger has never been beaten by the ravens and I don't see them doing it tomorrow at Baltimore.

 The 2010 Steeler season was a great one but ended with a sudden thud. Like a prize fighting boxer stunned and staggered,the Pittsburgh Steelers of 2010 stumbled to their corner after suffering a knock out punch from the agony of defeat in Super Bowl XLV.

Steeler players & battles to watch Preseason Game 4

Steeler Nation , the third preseason game is now in the books. The Steelers won 36 -16. Ben  Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown continue to look great  in the preseason hooking up for touchdowns of 44 and 77 yards. The Steelers offense looks to be a powerhouse in the making .

No longer is there a question on who will be the Steelers starting right guard . Tony Hills performance was average at best . Hills needs more experience at the position . The Steelers have named Doug Legursky  the starter for game four of the preseason  and he looks to have won the  starting right guard spot.

QB Byron Leftwich broke his arm last week and now the question is who is the back up QB Charlie Batch or Dennis Dixon?

Questions & Players to watch for Preseason Game 3

Steeler Nation , we are now heading for preseason game number 3. The Steelers will face a quality opponent in the Atlanta Falcons. This should be a good test on both offense and defense. The third  game is always one of the more interesting as far as preseason games go. The Steeler's starters will see more  playing time and the coaching staff will game plan for the opponent  much more than in the previous preseason games.

 Steeler Nation,  lets hope that this preseason game against the Eagles is a sign of things to come. The starting offense was really clicking with Ben Roethlisberger under center. Roethlisberger passed 8-12 for two touchdowns in limited action. Second year receiver Antonio Brown continues to shine and seems to be building good chemistry with Roethlisberger. Brown and Roethlisberger hooked up for a 29 yard TD pass. Brown has shown he is well on his way to securing  that third wide receiver spot for the Steelers.

Steeler Nation , preseason game 2 is now here. The Steelers go against the so called " Dream team " of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Steelers still have many questions to answer and tonight should be another step to getting those answers . Here is a look at some things we may learn tonight...

Steeler Nation, the first preseason game of 2011 is now in the books . It was not pretty but remember it was only the preseason . The Steelers lost 16-7 . Washington played their starters the whole first half ,while the Steelers played most of their starters the first series and that was about it. I think a lot of this has to do with the mindset of the two teams .

 The NFL Hall of Fame will hold it's enshrinement ceremony for the class of 2011 in Canton ,Ohio this weekend. First off, I would like to congratulate this years class. Steelers building the Foundation in Latrobe

As the last hot sunny days of July simmer into August ,it can only mean one thing for Steeler fans. The start of training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe Pa is upon us. This is the place where it all starts . The foundation of many Super Bowl teams have been built here over the years.

My personal opinion of such lists is that they are meaningless pieces of mindless dribble with no real value but to provoke debate among the fans and players themselves.  Steeler Nation , Summer is upon us . June is about to slip into July. These are usually days of great anticipation for Steeler fans and NFL fans from coast to coast. Usually mini camps and the free agent signings have just about ended and we are wondering what rookies will sign in time for the first day of training camp in Latrobe.

Steeler Nation, the 2011 NFL draft has now ended . Since the days of the great coach Chuck Noll, the Steelers have built their teams primarily through the draft. Preferring to mold and shape their own players and teach them the “Steeler Way”.

   NFL draft is right around the corner. The Steelers will be picking 31^st in the 1^st RD . The Steelers have been very successful in the last decade or so in the 1^st round of the draft . One person that has been a big factor in the Steelers success not only in the draft, but as a team since 2000 is Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert.

The NFL owners and players are in the middle of talks on a new collective bargaining agreement and once again greed rules the day. Both sides are so busy posturing and trying to manipulate the fans and media to choose their side of the argument that they are missing the big picture. Once again the fans are treated like dumb blind sheep who will follow no matter the price .

Not all that shines is gold

Well Steeler Nation Its that time of year again . Time for the NFL combine . A place where the stock of NFL prospects either skyrocket or plummet. Players are tested mentally and physically in every possible way. Paraded in front of all 32 teams and their most important talent evaluators. Everyone from coaches and scouts to general managers and owners are involed.

We May be down but we are not out ! Stand Strong!

Steeler Nation , its been over a week since the Steelers came up short on their quest for 7 and yes it was very diapointing but the bottom line is the Steelers just made too many big mistakes and could not come up with enough big plays of their own at key times .

That being said , I feel its very important to realize that we have a lot more to be proud of than to be down about. The Pittsburgh Steelers have made it to the Super Bowl 3 times in the last 6 years, winning 2 out of the 3 and having a chance of winning in all three.

They won't know what hit them!

 Hello Steeler Nation , it's the week of the Super Bowl and it's almost time to get this show on the road.

I want to congratulate Steeler Safety Troy Polamalu for his winning of the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. If any player deserved it , it was him. He had a great season , and we are truly blessed to witness such greatness on and off the field . Spectacular player and even better person.

 I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm beginning to feel the Steelers are getting disrespected by the mainstream media . Every time you turn the TV on, you hear how great Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are.

Lets show them how big we do it!

Steeler Nation , what a great Steeler season it has been. This AFC Championship game was one I will never forget. The Steelers came out and dominated the first half. This Steeler team is one of the most physical teams I have ever seen . They came out and punched the Jets in their big mouths . The goal line stand that the Steeler defense  had in the 4th quarter at the 1yard line was truly a thing of beauty .

  Hello Steeler Nation ,what a wild trip this season has been . Its the night before the AFC championship and yes ,our Steelers are still standing! Its amazing how great this franchise really is . To just be in this many AFC title games in the last decade speak volumes of the Rooneys and the Steelers greatness. Not to mention 6 Super bowl wins.

Its Time to put up or shut up.

   Hello Steeler Nation and let me start off by saying what a game ! The Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger once again shut the Ravens big mouths and sent them home to watch the playoffs as usual. The resiliency that this Steeler team has shown and continues to show is truly amazing.

    A new season begins . The 2010 regular season has ended . The Steelers have had a wild journey to this point. Dealing with all the off the field drama ,losing key players to injury ,dealing with fines,  trading a key member of the offense, a rookie center starting and making line calls.
