Steeler Nation , Are you ready for some football?!! The preseason is about to kickoff as the Steelers head to Washington to play the Redskins. Tonight we get to see the Steelers playing someone other than themselves. Tonight is the first step to answering the many questions of training camp 2011 and filling out the roster of the 2011 Pittsburgh Steelers.
With that in mind lets take a look at some of the key battles and questions that may begin to be answered.
Who will step up and become the Steelers starting left tackle?
Players to watch : Jonathan Scott, Tony Hills , and Rookie Marcus Gilbert .
Who will end up starting for this offensive line?
Players to watch : Doug Legursky , Chris Scott, Ramon Foster and Rookie Keith Williams .
What running back will step up to add depth behind Rashard Mendenhall , Isaac Redman and Mewelde Moore ?
Players to watch : Jonathan Dwyer, Rookie John Clay and James Johnson.
What young players will step up in the secondary?
Players to watch : Crezdon Butler, Keenan Lewis, Rookie Curtis Brown, Ryan Mundy, and Da'Mon Cromartie -Smith.
What Tight End prospect will step up to the second Tight End spot?
Players to watch : David Johnson, John Gilmore, Wesyle Saunders, Jamie McCoy
Who will win the punter job?
Players to watch : Dan Sepulveda , Jeremy Kapinos
Who will win the kicker job?
Players to watch : Shaun Suisham , Swayze Waters
Who will step up for the 5th Wide Receiver position?
Players to watch : Tyler Grisham , Limas Sweed
How will the young players of the defensive line do?
Players to watch : Rookie Cameron Heyward ,and Rookie Anthony Gray.
What young linebacker will step it up?
Players to watch : Jason Worilds , Stevenson Sylvester, and Rookie Chris Carter.
Who will be the number three quarterback?
Players to watch : Dennis Dixon , Charlie Batch
These questions won't be answered Friday night but we will be a step closer to knowing the answers after Friday night. Remember there's still a lot that can happen before opening day September 11th so take everything with a grain of salt.
