Thoughts & Keys to Steelers victory at the Colts week 3

Steeler Nation it's  now week three of the 2011 season and the Steelers next game is at Indianapolis taking on the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts will be with out their  leader, quarterback Peyton Manning who is out with a neck injury.

In place of Manning, the Colts have brought  veteran Quarterback Kerry Collins in out of retirement . Collins has not fared well thus far. The Colts are 0-2 with Collins under center, losing  34-7 at Houston and 27-19 at home to Cleveland. Collins has a completion percentage of just 50.7 % with  2 touchdown passes and a interception and a quarterback rating of 71.4. This Colts offense is just not very good without Peyton Manning.

The Colts running game is led by Joseph Addai with 103 yards . The Colts  rushing  offense is ranked 23rd  in the NFL. The Colts are 27th  in passing offense and 29th in total offense. The Steelers defense should have no problem containing this offense. The Colts offense without Peyton Manning is only averaging 13 points a game.

The Steelers will have cornerback William  Gay taking over for the banged up Bryant McFadden. The Steelers secondary must not take the Colts receivers too lightly. The Colts are led by wide receiver Reggie Wayne and tight end Dallas Clark.

The Steelers defense must harass QB Kerry Collins and should have no problem doing so . Collins has been prone to making costly mistakes as of late and the Steelers defense should be able to take advantage of Collins and his lack of experience in this Colts offense. Linebackers James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley need to make some big plays.

The Steelers offense should be able to move the ball on this Colts defense. It ranks 10th against the pass and 29th against the run.  Running back Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman should have plenty of chances for big runs. I look for the Steelers to have a big night running the ball.

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steeler's offense must continue to protect the football and limit mistakes. The Steelers offensive line will have Chris Kemoeatu back at Left Guard. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers line handles Colts speed rusher DE Dwight Freeney. The Colt's defense has given up a lot of  points . They rank 30th in points allowed , allowing an average of 30.5 points a game so far this season. Roethlisberger and the Steelers should have no problem scoring against this team.

Steeler Nation the bottom line is the Steelers should be able to beat this Colts team easily. This team was built around Peyton Manning and he's out and the offense just is not a real threat without him. The Steelers have to jump on the Colts early and take that home crowd out of the game . I have a feeling the Steeler defense is going to have a big night and force a few turn overs. The Steelers offense should be able to move the ball against this suspect defense. Look for the Steelers to win by double digits.
