They won't know what hit them!

Hello Steeler Nation , it's the week of the Super Bowl and it's almost time to get this show on the road.
I want to congratulate Steeler Safety Troy Polamalu for his winning of the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. If any player deserved it , it was him. He had a great season , and we are truly blessed to witness such greatness on and off the field . Spectacular player and even better person.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm beginning to feel the Steelers are getting disrespected by the mainstream media . Every time you turn the TV on, you hear how great Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are.

Don't get me wrong the Packers have had a good season ,10-6 and have gotten hot during a playoff run but to suggest that Rogers and the Packers will be able to do more of the same against this physical Steelers defense is foolish.

This Steelers defense is a great one. One of the most physical the NFL has seen in years. The Steelers defense imposes its will on opponents. I don't think a lot of people ,especially the national media realize how special this group is. The number of play-makers on this defense is just amazing. The linebacker unit is the best in the league ,bar none. Most teams would be thrilled to have the Steelers back up linebackers as starters. James Farrior is the great leader and throw in James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley, Lawrence Timmons, and that's some very talented play-makers with a lot of swagger as your starters. Back ups Larry Foote and Keyaron Fox could start on most teams.

The Steelers defensive line is quickly becoming one of the best around and that's with out the great DE Aaron Smith. Brett Keisel had a Pro Bowl season . Nose tackle Casey Hampton continues his stellar play in the middle and DE Ziggy Hood has really stepped it up and continues to make big plays in Smith's absence .

Yet all you hear nationally is about how the Steelers won't be able to stop LB Clay Matthews and NT B.J. Raji. Matthews has had a great season but no greater then James Harrison and he is no bigger a play-maker then any of the Steelers starting linebackers. B.J Raji is good but no better then Hampton. Add in Back up NT Chris Hoke, who could start for a lot of teams and helps keep Hampton fresh without a noticeable drop in play and its really no contest.

Did I mention that the Steelers have the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in Troy Polamalu. Polamalu has probably made more game changing plays then any defensive player in the league this season . CB Ike Taylor has had another great season and may be the most underrated CB in the NFL. The Packers have no bigger hitter then the Steelers Safety Ryan Clark.

My point is I think Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense should fear the Steeler's defense much more then Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers should the Packer's defense. The Steelers have a more balanced offense and a much better running game with RB Rashard Mendenhall . Mendenhall has become a big time running back . He has a rare mix of power and speed and is running hard in the playoffs.

The Steelers and Roethlisberger have faced and beaten much better defenses in the playoffs alone. The Ravens and Jets are both better and more physical then the Packers defense. Yet we keep hearing how the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger are going to have trouble moving the ball against Green Bays defense. Really?

I realize that QB Aaron Rodgers and the Packers were the hot team nationally but no hotter then the Steelers. I mean the Packers lost to the Lions, the Redskins , and Dolphins. None of these teams even made the playoffs. It could be said that the Steelers beat tougher opponents to make it the Super Bowl.
We keep hearing about how great the Packers receiving core is and how the speedy track will benefit them . The Steelers WRs are every bit as dangerous and maybe faster. Tight end Heath Miller has to be a big Steeler advantage.

In the end the main stream media is underestimating this Steelers team.I say let them fall in love with Rodgers and the Packers. The Steelers love it when people doubt them. They relish being the underdog. The core group of this Steeler team has been there and done it not just once but twice. The Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger have came through with big plays in the biggest of games. The Packers and Aaron Rodgers have never preformed on a stage this big ,against a team this physical or intimidating . They won't know what hit em !!!

I hope you enjoyed the post ! Check back soon for more ,and remember enjoy the ride to 7! The Steelers and Steeler Nation can't be stopped! Later Steeler Nation!
