Every cloud has a silver lining

In life a lot of times its much easier to see the negative, bad, or whats wrong in your life. Some times we focus so hard on our problems and what we think is going wrong , that we lose track of the good things we have, and whats going right. So Today at Steelers N Stuff I have decided to give us all a reminder that It can always be worse and may not be as bad as it seems so try to focus more on the good you have in your life and whats going right

The Steelers lost a big game against the Saints Sunday night . It was on national TV against the Super Bowl champs in New Orleans on Halloween night . A big stage for sure ,a playoff like atmosphere. Some players said the noise reminded them of game in Indianapolis against the Colts in 2005. That was a Monday night game and the Steelers lost the game 26 -7 and Colts won the game handily.

The Steelers had many problems that night ,among them was dealing with the crowd noise (it was widely thought that they had piped noise in through speakers for years) But this game would prove to be one of the most important learning experiences for the Steelers and through this loss the Steelers would learn how to better deal with the crowd noise and Peyton Manning and all his pre snap theatrics. On their way to win  Super Bowl XL, the Steelers would meet the Colts again only this time they used what they had learned from the earlier loss in the regular season and came out and dominated the Colts and won the playoff game 21 -18. I'm sure the Colts and Manning would trade that Monday night win for the Steelers playoff win any day .

So you see that the loss against the Saints although hard to take right now, may have had some valuable lessons to it. The Steelers were playing a big game with a playoff like atmosphere. Rookie center Marquis Pouncey makes most of the offensive line calls and in such an environment it can be hard for a rookie to communicate these calls . Many of the Steelers have said that the noise was a factor with a lot of communication  and that they had problems with  it till they figured out  a better plan for it in the second half. So Pouncey  and the offensive line earn  some valuable experience with out having to lose a playoff game.

The Saints might have won the game but it was not like they had the game in hand from beginning to end .The Steelers were driving, to at the very least tie the game with 6  and a half minutes , and if Heath Miller does not fumble heading to the Colts 34 yard line they could have at  least tied the ball game or taken the lead .

There are many good things that can be taken from this loss. I mean if you are going to lose a game in the regular season, then at least it was against an NFC opponent, and has no real significance toward the Steelers division or playoff position .

They have to feel good about Emmanual Sanders and how he has done lately with the return game .

The Steelers have to feel  good about the offensive line, and how it has  improved over last season. The emergence of RB Rashard Mendenhall ,as a top NFL running back and the Steelers improved running game has got to be a plus. Lawrence Timmons  has come into his own as one of the top Lbs in the league this year.

Ben Roethlisberger has a QB rating of 103.4 after  just 3 games back  and he and this receiving core of youth and veteran leadership ,only will get better as the season goes.  The Steelers defense is still one of the best in the league if not the best.

The Steelers are 5-2 and no one would have guessed that at the beginning of the season . They are still considered among the elite teams in the NFL and in control of their own destiny as far as the playoffs go .

So just remember although there may be some grey clouds keep searching for that silver lining and what you may consider as bad times today may end up being the best thing that could have happened for the future . Try to remember the good you have .

Well there you have it and I hope it helps you through some bad times and remember as far as the Steelers loss to the Saints it may have been a valuable lesson for the future.
