The 2010 Steeler season was a great one but ended with a sudden thud. Like a prize fighting boxer stunned and staggered, the Pittsburgh Steelers of 2010 stumbled to their corner after suffering a knock out punch from the agony of defeat in Super Bowl XLV.
Months have past but the sting and bitter taste of that defeat remains. The only remedy? Come back stronger . . .Rise up off the canvas with the heart of a champion ,a relentless drive and determination... and come out swinging! Learn from your past mistakes and always keep your eyes on the prize.
The Steelers must play every game as if its their last . The Steelers have a veteran core group of players and for some of these players this may be their last chance to win it all.
Players such as Casey Hampton,James Farrior , Aaron Smith , and Hines Ward to name a few ,know that time is no longer on their side and no game can be taken for granted.
Ben Roethlisberger is now in the prime of his career and has developed into one of the league's true gunslingers , and has many weapons at his disposal this season. Like a scene from one of the classic western movies, Ben and the Steelers will ride mysteriously into town... and now they have unfinished business. The Day of reckoning is fast approaching for the teams and doubters in the Steeler's path.
Many of the doubters that believe Ben Roethlisberger is not among the elite NFL quarterbacks are in for a rude awakening this season . Mark my words..They will have no choice but to accept Ben as one of the greats after this season.
The running game is right on track with running backs Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman both coming into their own.
Offensive line coach Sean Kugler did a fantastic job last season and looks to pick up where he left off molding players to be versatile in their duties on the offensive line .
This Steelers offense may be the highest scoring in team history by the time this seasons all said and done. The sky is the limit for this talented group.
The Steelers defense is said by some to be getting old , a little long in the tooth. What people fail to realize is that the Steelers now have plenty of capable young depth on their defensive line in Ziggy Hood and Cam Heyward.
LaMarr Woodley and Lawrence Timmons are great young linebackers that still have their best days ahead of them . Troy Polamalu may have been playing injured in last year's playoffs and Super bowl but looks to have no lasting effects this season . Polamalu was the NFL's defensive player of the year in 2010 and is always a potential game changer. Ike Tayor shows no signs of slowing down. There are still plenty of play makers on this defense and Defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau still has a few tricks up his sleave!
Head coach Mike Tomlin may have had his greatest coaching season last year dealing with Ben's suspension and the many key injuries in the offensive line. I'm sure he will have this team focused and ready for another championship run .
So Steeler Nation what ever way you want look at it . The time is now . Its time to saddle up . The bells about to ring for the start of the next round . The Steelers have unfinished business!
