The Winds of change are upon us

"The pessimist complains about the wind ; the optimist expects it to change ; the realist adjust the sails." ~ William Arthur Ward

March 12th  kicked off the 2013 NFL Free Agency period it also kicked up the winds of change for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In just a few short days the Steelers roster has changed significantly.

Gone are free agents wide receiver Mike Wallace (Miami Dolphins), cornerback Keenan Lewis  (New Orleans Saints), Rashard Mendenhall ( Arizona Cardinals) and Safety Ryan Mundy (New York Giants) .

Gone is former defensive MVP and Super Bowl Hero linebacker  James Harrison who was cut along with  offensive lineman Willie Colon (New York Jets).

The cap strapped Steelers did manage to sign a few of their own signing guard Ramon Foster (3 yrs  6 million ) wide receiver Plaxico Burress (1 yr vet minimum ) linebacker Larry Foote (3 yrs 5.5 million) fullback-tight end  David Johnson( 1yr)  running back Jonathan Dwyer signed his tender. Long snapper Greg Warren was also signed.

The Steelers did sign a couple of free agents from elsewhere, Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski from Cincinnati (3 yrs) and cornerback William Gay returns after being cut from the Arizonia Cardinals  .

So as you see there has been a lot of change and its just less than a week into free agency.

Such is life in today's NFL . The winds of change can come quick and change the whole makeup of your team in a flash.  Just look at Baltimore if you need more proof. The Ravens have lost many of the key players that took them to a Super Bowl win just less than a couple of months ago. The Steelers are just going through what every team must face. Some years more than others.

It's not a question of will the winds of change come because in the NFL as in life they always come. They can come cold, hard,  and  sudden tearing a team apart. They can also be a breath of fresh air and a new beginning . It all depends on how well you  can adjust your sails. Soon we shall see how well the Steelers adjust their sails.  Steeler Nation lets hope for smooth sailing!!!
