Forever the definition of a Pittsburgh Steelers

Steeler Nation its a sad time for all Steeler fans . The Steelers have cut ties with one of the all time great Steelers ,wide receiver Hines Ward. For 14 wonderful seasons Hines Ward has played the game of football with the heart of a champion, playing smash mouth football with a great passion and tenacity and doing it all with a smile.

No wide receiver ever played the position tougher or worked harder. Hines Ward is a true football player and redefined the position of wide receiver . He was a clutch player and came through in many of the biggest games. Ward was named MVP of Super Bowl XL. He set the tone in many of the hardest hitting games with his vicious blocking and let teams know that the Pittsburgh Steelers played smash mouth football and if you wanted to play you better be ready for a good old fashion butt whipping.

He always came through with those tough yards on 3^rd down and was a first down machine. He made just about every kind of catch a receiver could make and never feared contact but seemed to enjoy it.

Hines Ward was at his best in the red zone and perhaps no other wide receiver had a better nose for the end zone. He ended his Steeler career with a record 85 receiving Tds. He holds 15 Pittsburgh Steeler receiving records including 1000 career receptions and is only the 8^th wide receiver in NFL history to reach that plateau.

Ward also owns the Steeler's all time receiving yardage record with 12083 yards.

Even with all of Hines Ward's great statistical accomplishments he was even a better leader on and off the field. Ward mentored many of the Steeler's young players over the years and was a team captain and a great team leader.

Ward gave much of his time and money to many charities off the field. Ward won the Steeler's Walter Payton man of the year award for his numerous off field charitable acts and his helping hands foundation.

Hines Ward is and always will be forever the definition of a Pittsburgh Steelers. Hines Ward thank you for all the great moments and memories . You always gave us your all and will always have a special place in the hearts of Steeler Nation ! Thank you and see you in Canton some day!
